Texas State Rifle Assoc.

The Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA) is the premier advocacy and education organization dedicated to protecting Second Amendment rights and promoting the shooting sports throughout the state of Texas. Established in 1919, TSRA has served as a voice for law-abiding Texas gun owners for over a century, working tirelessly to ensure that the rights of individuals to keep and bear arms are preserved for future generations. TSRA operates and plays a key roles in both legislative advocacy and firearms education. Our mission is twofold: to advance the constitutional rights of Texans through active legislative involvement, and to cultivate the shooting sports through safety, competition, and education programs. TSRA members come from all walks of life—hunters, sport shooters, gun collectors, law enforcement, veterans, and families who value the freedom and responsibility that comes with firearm ownership. Through a combination of grassroots activism, member engagement, and strong relationships with Texas lawmakers, TSRA has successfully championed numerous laws that defend and expand Second Amendment protections. Beyond the legislative arena, TSRA is deeply committed to promoting marksmanship and firearms education. Our organization supports a wide variety of shooting disciplines including precision rifle, action pistol, shotgun sports (trap, skeet, and sporting clays), black powder, air rifle, silhouette shooting, and cowboy action shooting. TSRA-sanctioned competitions and training events are held throughout Texas to encourage skill development, sportsmanship, and community. TSRA is also proud to invest in the next generation through youth programs, scholarships, and junior shooting teams. We believe that introducing young Texans to safe and responsible gun ownership helps preserve our traditions and creates lifelong advocates for firearm safety and rights. Additionally, TSRA actively promotes women’s involvement in shooting sports by supporting dedicated outreach, events, and mentorship opportunities. As a member-supported nonprofit organization, TSRA relies on the dedication and generosity of its members to continue its mission. Membership benefits include legislative alerts, updates on firearm policy, access to competitions and events, training opportunities, and a subscription to TSRA's official magazine. Most importantly, members are part of a statewide community committed to safeguarding freedom and tradition. Whether you're a competitive shooter, a hunter, a concerned citizen, or a parent looking to educate your children about firearm safety, TSRA offers the resources, support, and advocacy to help you make a difference.
