About Communicate Through Spelling

CTS, Communicate Through Spelling, turns an iPad into a calm, beautiful voice for nonspeaking children and adults. Built by two fathers of autistic children, it gives every person a way to be heard, one letter at a time, whether they are 4 or 44. SPELLING BOARDS THAT GROW Start with four big letters, move to nine, then the full alphabet and a QWERTY keyboard. Every letter speaks the moment it is tapped, and each typed word is read out loud. TALK, IN PICTURES A picture board builds real sentences. Tap "I want," and it offers food, drink, and comfort. Tap "I feel," and it offers feelings and where it hurts. Each choice suggests the next natural words, and the whole sentence is spoken with one tap. Parents can add their own buttons with photos. MORE THAN 40 REAL VOICES Warm women, calm men, real kids, and playful characters. Every speller picks the voice that feels like theirs, for every letter, word, and sentence, and the app cheers for them by name. 32 GAMES AND QUIZZES Motor coordination, spelling, thinking, and knowledge, where every right answer is spelled out loud. New content is added all the time. CALM MUSIC AND BINAURAL BEATS Three gentle, evolving soundscapes and optional binaural beats, tuned for regulation and focus. MADE FOR FAMILIES Settings, links, and purchases sit behind a parental gate, so a child who taps anything lands on a learning game, never a settings page. History shows sessions, accuracy, and PDF export. Free for 30 days, the whole app, every voice, every game. CTS is part of Autism Is Biomedical, a nonprofit 501(c)(3). What’s new

Version 1.2.5 · Updated October 11, 2026

Talk, made with families: Bigger buttons. Use the new minus and plus on the Talk screen to make the buttons bigger, down to 2 a row. Starter words stay put. Tapping I want, I feel or I need adds the words and keeps you on the same page, so your own picture buttons are right there. Their usual choices show as quick picks, with Open all for the full list. Your sentence is kept if you leave Talk by mistake. Picture cards. Add pictures from Photos or now also from Files, several at once. CTS reads the word printed on a picture card and uses it as the button's name, and Save all adds a whole set in one tap. A name is now optional, and you can hide it for cards that already show their word. Crop and Remove background for every photo button. The motor games now show reaction times in tenths of a second in History.
