About PracticeOS: Guitar Technique

Become the guitarist you've always heard in your head. PracticeOS turns scattered, aimless practice into a real system, so every minute with the guitar moves you closer to the player you want to be. Structured, focused, and always in your pocket. Beginner fumbling your first chord or advanced player chasing speed: PracticeOS gives your practice a plan — and proof that you're getting better. YOUR PRACTICE PATH Stop wondering what to work on. Tell us your instrument and your level, and your first session starts straight away. From there your path runs level by level through chords, scales, melodies and technique, so you always know what's next. WATCH IT, THEN PLAY IT Every free level opens with a short demo video, filmed close up: see which finger goes where and how it should sound before you play a note of it. CHORDS & SONGS Play music, not just exercises. • Over 130 chord shapes: open position, 7ths, 6ths, sus, add9, 9/11/13, diminished, power chords, drone and flamenco voicings • Over 60 chord progressions behind the songs you want to play • Play a Song: 20 songs, progressions and strumming together, at your tempo • Over 20 famous melodies in tab, slowed down until they're yours SCALES & IMPROVISATION • 50 scales — major, minor, pentatonic, blues, Dorian, Mixolydian, Phrygian, Lydian, harmonic and melodic minor, whole tone • Animated patterns with full tempo control • Improvise: solo over a backing loop where nothing you play is wrong TECHNIQUE & SPEED Build the hands you've always wanted. • Speed Burst training: short, intense drills for real speed without tension • Alternate picking: down-up discipline, one clean step at a time • Advanced picking and left-hand workouts in pure tab CLASSICAL GUITAR A full classical track, not an afterthought. • Giuliani right-hand arpeggio studies and p-i-m-a scales • Finger independence: three fingers hold while the fourth works alone, one finger at a time, with the position named • Interval Training: Tárrega's chromatic octaves and thirds through every major key • Campanella: one note per string, so the whole line rings like a bell • Filmed technique lessons up close: tirando, apoyando, tremolo, trills, mordents, glissando and more PLAY, DON'T JUST READ • Bouncing Ball: a ball hops along the melody — play each note as it lands • Fretboard Play: your phone becomes the neck THEORY & READING Theory lessons, a theory quiz and step-by-step notation reading, woven into your path. What’s new

Version 8.6 · Updated September 30, 2026

Slow it down until you can see it Every demo video now has a speed control: quarter, half, three-quarter, one-and-a-half or double speed. The pitch stays where it was played, so a clip at half speed is still in tune to play along with — watch which finger moves first, then bring it back up to tempo. Demos on far more lessons Around forty new clips, filmed close up: the classical right hand through the planted rolls, the fretting hand through the awkward pairs and its first scales, and the speed bursts. On electric, alternate picking now runs into the Giuliani arpeggios, with more speed bursts, scales and advanced studies. Guitar Basics gains chords through the sevenths, ten melodies and the strumming patterns behind real songs. Shorter sessions, better spent Every level on the fretting-hand and speed ladders is now two exercises rather than three. A hand held at tempo tightens by the third study, and nothing is dropped — the rest simply start the next level. Also in this release • The classical scale burst now sits in IV–V position, with the fingering written in • A corrected up-strum in the Tresillo pattern • Fixes to a rhythm glitch and an audio crackle • Various refinements
