ABALOBI Monitor

The ABALOBI MONITOR platform is a digital solution specifically crafted for small-scale fisheries, enabling community-based monitors to collect and manage catch data directly in the field, replacing outdated and inefficient paper-based systems. Designed to serve even remote fishing communities, MONITOR provides a real-time, secure, and user-friendly approach to fisheries data collection. By digitising and visualising critical data immediately, MONITOR enables informed, data-driven decisions that support sustainable fishing practices and community-level advocacy at all levels of policy making. Key Features: • Customizable Data Collection: Configurable interface with seamless updates ensure flexibility in data collection. Variable fields and tailored prompts make the app adaptable for diverse communities. • Real-Time Data Access: Uploaded data is instantly accessible to organisation administrative users in the web-based Admin Panel, while aggregated data visualisations are updated daily, streamlining analysis and supporting quick, informed decisions at the community level. • Offline Capabilities: MONITOR allows users to log details about fishing activities offline and upload them once connected, making it reliable even in low-connectivity areas. • GPS & Location Services: Integrated GPS functionality ensures accurate location data for monitoring activity. • Multi-Language Support: Adaptable to local languages for accessibility across different regions and communities. • Intuitive, Icon-Based Interface: Designed to support users with low tech literacy, the app's icon-driven UI ensures ease of use and accessibility for community monitors. • Data Ownership and Security: Organisation administrative users maintain control of data submitted by monitors with permission-based access, safeguarding community information. • Seamless Data Integration: MONITOR data is seamlessly pulled into a cloud-based Data Warehouse and visualised via online reports with secured access in the Admin Panel. Unlike general-purpose form builders, ABALOBI MONITOR is an end-to-end system purpose-built for organisations aiming to implement efficient, transparent, and accurate monitoring systems in the small-scale fisheries sector. User management functionality and access to individual activity logs and aggregated data visualisations is surfaced through a secure, web-based Admin Panel, accessible by administrative users within the managing organisation. The Admin Panel allows for complete oversight, ensuring data security and streamlined access to insights for organisational stakeholders. The platform is adaptable to various research frameworks and provides customizable configurations to align with different methodologies. MONITOR’s integration with digital infrastructure mitigates the common challenges of paper-based data collection, such as data duplication and lengthy processing times, enabling near-instant data flow from the field to dashboards and analyses. With a user-friendly, icon-based interface and real-time data streaming, ABALOBI MONITOR brings the power of technology to community-based monitors, bridging the gap between local knowledge and global data demands.
