About X-Y-Z
X–Y–Z enables users to scan and annotate text pages with ease. While pages are stored locally on your device, annotations are shared whenever another user scans and annotates the same page. For individual projects, annotations can remain private. To match pages and place shared annotations accurately, X–Y–Z sends each scan to its server for text recognition and keeps only the recognised text layout and similarity fingerprints. The scanned images themselves are never stored online. X–Y–Z is not a replacement for the book but rather an enhancement, adding a digital dimension to complement the physical experience.
What’s new
Version 1.0.1 · Updated October 26, 2026
X–Y–Z has been rebuilt from the ground up as a native iOS app. Your books and pages from the previous version are imported automatically when you first open the app. Please sign in with Apple once more afterwards. If you chose "Hide My Email" when you first signed in, your annotations from the previous version are not linked to your new sign-in. The books and pages on your device are not affected. • Faster, smoother page viewer and annotation editor • Stay signed in across restarts • Pages of a multi-page scan are numbered consecutively • Improved ISBN lookup and covers • Many fixes in search and uploads
