About Towner
Life is best enjoyed with others. And interests bring us together. On Towner, an interest is an Into. Follow Intos to see who shares your interests nearby and to receive activity alerts about opportunities to connect in your area that match your interests. Towner is a hyper-local social networking platform for finding people who share your interests in the area. Have a hobby? Looking to meet new people? Want to get a group together for an activity? Have something you’d like to discuss with people nearby? There are 3 main ways to connect: (1) People Nearby If users choose to make their profile Discoverable, then they can see other discoverable users browsing in the general area. By selecting a profile, a user can see what Intos are shared and then start a private Chat with the user by sending them a message. (2) Chats A user can post a Chat to start a group conversation on any Into. Each Chat is location-based, so only users whose browsing area include the Chat’s location can discover the Chat. (3) Plans A user can post a Plan, or casual event, to share an opportunity to connect in-person around an Into (e.g. Walk, Social). Each Plan is only visible to users whose browsing area includes the Plan’s location. If the Plan is posted in a Community, then any Community Member can discover the Plan. Other notable features: Plans are designed for safety Each Plan, by default, hides location details until a user has asked to join and then the organizer has approved that user. All Participants of a Plan are automatically added into a group chat. Communities designed for diversity Towner Communities serve groups with diverse interests. It provides an easy way for Members to connect with other Members with similar Intos. User profiles built on trust To encourage user-vetting, Towner users vouch for one another. Vouches can only be made by users who’ve previously received a Vouch to enhance their reliability. Intos are endless From broad to specific, Intos allow users to find others who share their interests, no matter the interest - as long as it encourages the flourishing of a supportive community. Any user can suggest additional Intos. To learn more about Towner, email [email protected]
