JiKing Hexagram generator

About JiKing Hexagram generator

What's new New features • Display settings: a menu opened with the slider icon above the hexagrams. It lets you switch Seed/Central, the Ba Zi – Later Heaven method and the equation of time on or off. • Ba Zi – Later Heaven method: an optional traditional Chinese calculation (He Luo Li Shu) for birth and transit hexagrams. It determines the controlling line from the four pillars (Ba Zi) and shows the Later Heaven hexagram. The default remains the app's own method. • Equation of time: an optional setting. It uses true solar time (what a sundial would show) instead of local mean time; the difference is at most about ±16 minutes during the year. It is off by default. • Lunar new year: on the birth data screen, the moon icon calculates the hexagram for the lunar new year of any chosen year. More accurate hexagram calculation • The 24 solar terms are now derived from the Sun's actual, astronomically calculated position instead of fixed dates. • The year now begins at Lichun (early February) rather than on 1 January, as in the traditional Chinese calendar. • The Zi hour from 23:00 to 01:00 counts as a single unit: the next day's values already apply. • Fixed the calculation for 22–31 December. Please note: previously saved birth and transit hexagrams are recalculated when opened if they fall • between 1 January and Lichun, • at the end of December, • near a solar term, • or between 23:00 and midnight. These may differ from before. Saved coin and calculator results are unchanged. Chinese year • More accurate Chinese New Year date and new moon time, based on your longitude. Calculator • Random tosses now simulate three coins, so changing lines appear as often as with real coins. Location • Faster, and works indoors too. If no fresh fix is available, the last known location is used. Other • On first launch the app starts in English or Hungarian, following the device language. • Dates can be entered from 1864 to 2042. • Saved list: delete asks for confirmation only when an item is selected, and damaged entries no longer cause errors. • The About page now describes the new features. • Improved translations and minor bug fixes.
