What’s new
Version 2.0.0 · Updated September 25, 2026
Lock Status 2.0 is a major update, built for towboat crews and Great Loop boaters alike. • Trip Planner: plan a route lock by lock, or the whole Great Loop, and see the next lock, how far it is, when you'll arrive and the delays ahead. • Hail the Lock: each lock's VHF channel and phone number in one place. Towboats see whether the tow fits the chamber or how many cuts it needs. Pleasure boaters get a radio script and tips for locking through. • Alerts: get notified when a stoppage starts or clears, a delay passes your limit, or a navigation notice is posted at your favorite locks and the locks ahead on your trip. • Live Activities: keep a lock on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, updated as conditions change. • Widgets: delays and stoppages on your Home Screen and Lock Screen, and on the Mac desktop and in the menu bar. • Your vessel: tell the app about your boat and it shows what's useful to you, with arrival times based on your speed. • Night and Sun modes: red on black to protect your night vision in the pilothouse, and high contrast for bright days. • Dead spots: when you lose signal, the app shows the last data it loaded and when it's from, and refreshes as soon as you're back in range. • Your language: now in Spanish, French, Russian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipino and Haitian Creole. • Accessibility: full VoiceOver support and larger text sizes throughout. • Lock Status Premium: alerts, Live Activities that update themselves, the full trip planner and traffic and cargo history, for $1.99 a month or $9.99 a year, with a free first week. Lock status, delays, stoppages and how to hail each lock stay free. Lock information comes from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
