Olvid is the first private instant messaging application for everyone. What is a "private" messenger? It's a messenger: - That does not push new contacts on you. You are in control: you choose who you want to discuss with. Olvid offers several ways to invite other Olvid users, either face-to-face or remotely. - That does not require any personal data. Olvid won't ask for your phone number, for your email. - Choose the size of the photos and videos you send! This is the feature many of you have been asking for. When writing a message, pick Low, Medium, High or Original. Smaller sizes upload much faster and reach your contacts sooner, especially on a slow connection, and they download faster on their side too. - Long discussions are much faster: they open in about half the time, scroll smoothly however far back you go, and show messages right away instead of grey placeholders. Jumping to a quote, a search result or a notification no longer pauses. - Olvid is now available in Turkish and Polish. - Animated GIFs now play directly in the composition bar before you send them. - Redesigned the menu shown when you press and hold a message: icons first, a roomier emoji bar, and the Liquid Glass look on iOS 26 and macOS 26 or later. - Reactions to your messages are now notified even while Olvid is open. - Olvid now catches up more reliably when many messages are waiting on the server. - With a keyboard on an iPad or a Mac, the Escape key now closes the current screen, or steps back one screen inside a flow. - Return, Shift+Return and Cmd+Return in the composition bar now follow the send shortcut chosen in the Interface settings. - When notification content is hidden in the privacy settings, reactions, edited messages and missed calls now stay hidden too. A hidden notification still plays the discussion's sound and opens the right screen when tapped. - Fixed a bug when sharing from another app: after changing the discussion, the To: row kept showing the previous one. It now shows the discussion you just chose. - Fixed a crash that could occur while a profile backup was being prepared as a contact was deleted. - Fixed a crash of the notification service that could leave some messages without a notification. - Various other improvements, security improvements and bug fixes. - Olvid notifications now show up reliably in CarPlay. - On iOS 16 and 17, a newline inserted with the Return key now goes in at the caret rather than at the end of the draft.
