About draw.how: Learn to Draw
draw.how teaches drawing one line at a time. Every lesson shows the next lines to draw over a light guide, and when you finish, the app measures your drawing and tells you what went well and what to work on.
LEARN
- 107 step-by-step lessons: animals, food, objects, faces, nature and people.
- Three courses that build in order: Start Here, Shapes and Form, Light and Shadow.
- A drawing of the day, about ten minutes long.
- Each step comes with what to watch for and a check before you move on.
PRACTICE
- Short timed drills, each training one skill the critique measures.
DRAW
- A blank sheet for anything you like, measured when you tap Finish.
- A native drawing canvas with pencil, eraser, undo and clear. Stylus pressure is used where your device supports it.
PHOTO TO LESSON
- Choose a photo of something you want to draw and the app turns it into a short step-by-step lesson to draw along with.
- Needs a free account, which includes free photo lessons every day.
CRITIQUE AND PROGRESS
- After each drawing you get a short critique built from what was actually measured, such as line confidence and proportion.
- Sign in to keep your drawings, track a daily streak and watch your skills change over the weeks.
Lessons, drills and the canvas work without an account. If you draw before signing in, those drawings move to your account when you sign in. You can delete your account and drawings from inside the app at any time.
