NYC Noise

The NYC Noise App is a powerful tool designed to help the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) collect noise data across New York City in a completely anonymous and secure way. The app provides a simple, efficient method for monitoring noise levels without compromising your privacy.

The app does not record any audio or voices—rather, it analyzes the noise levels (dBA) based on the frequency (Hz) of the surrounding environment. It uses your phone's built-in sensors to measure the intensity of ambient noise and sends this data to the DEP for analysis. The noise data is captured in real-time and is anonymized, ensuring that no personal information is ever exposed or shared.

Whether you're at home, at work, or on the go, you can easily participate in helping monitor and improve New York City's sound environment. The NYC Noise App allows you to contribute to the city's efforts to reduce noise pollution, protect public health, and promote a quieter, more peaceful urban experience.
