Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is a yellow-flowered agricultural plant grown for its seeds and oil from the daisy family (Asteraceae).

Sunflower requires a total temperature of around 2600-2850 °C during the growing period (100-150 days). Due to its deep and pile root system, it is highly resistant to drought. Although it grows in all kinds of soils, it prefers well-drained, neutral PH (6.5 - 7.5) soils with high water retention. It does not like acidic soils with high groundwater. The water needs of plants in the soil are measured with a soil tension meter. The most sensitive period in sunflower is the period between the stage before flowering and the stage of milk production.
