Plants are a vast realm of living things that can produce their own food by photosynthesis and allow eukaryotic trees, shrubs, flowers, grasses, mosses, and similar organisms to live on them. Only plants and some single-celled microorganisms perform photosynthesis.
Plants continue their lives in communities. The cover created by plants in a region is called vegetation. Flora is the name given to all plant species growing in an area. A plant community that develops in the living conditions of any region and contains a similar ecological structure is called vegetation. These are four classes. Many factors affect the growth of plants. These; distance from the equator, altitude, light, temperature, humidity, annual precipitation, soil content, living factors. Since plants play a fundamental role in maintaining ecological balance through photosynthesis, they occupy a critical position in the living world.
Nearly 350,000 species of the plant kingdom have been discovered so far. As of 2004, 287,655 plant species have been published in the literature. Of these, 258,650 were categorized as flowering plants and 15,000 as mosses. Plants are generally autotrophic organisms and obtain their energy from sunlight. Many plants produce their organic compounds by photosynthesis, thanks to their chloroplasts. Plant cells usually have a square-like appearance. Plants are categorized into two major groups, seedless plants (Cryptogamae) and seed plants (Spermatophyta).
Seedless plants continue their generation by multiplying with spores. Most of these plants do not clearly exhibit organ differentiation, such as roots, stems, leaves, and flowers. The whole plant is of the same structure, foliate or striped, and this structure is called the "thallus". It has also been recorded that plants with thallus are called "Thallophyta". Plants that are more developed and show organ differentiation are called "Kormophyta", and this type of structure is called "Kormus".
It is in the order of species, which includes algae, mosses (Bryophyta), liverworts, and vascular plants (such as fossil species and ferns).
