FlagMinder: US Flag Status

DISCLAIMER

FlagMinder is an independent application. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the United States Government. It reports U.S. Federal flag-status information and does not report state, territorial, municipal, or other local flag orders.

SOURCES OF INFORMATION

FlagMinder uses publicly available information from official Federal sources:

• White House Presidential Proclamations
https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/proclamations

• Compilation of Presidential Documents — GovInfo
https://www.govinfo.gov/app/collection/cpd

• United States Code — Office of the Law Revision Counsel
https://uscode.house.gov/

Know when a Presidential proclamation or order changes the U.S. Federal flag to half-staff.

FlagMinder combines Presidential actions with scheduled Federal observances. It can notify you when Federal flag status changes, remind you about known upcoming changes, and keep the current status visible on your home screen.

SEE CHANGES AT A GLANCE

The resizable FlagMinder widget displays yesterday, today, and tomorrow together. This three-day view makes it easier to recognize when the prescribed flag position has changed or will change.

Today is emphasized, with the required full-staff or half-staff position and its effective period.

PRESIDENTIAL ACTIONS AND SCHEDULED OBSERVANCES

Unscheduled half-staff periods may be established through Presidential proclamations or orders. FlagMinder checks for accepted Federal actions and can notify you when one begins or ends.

FlagMinder also tracks recurring Federal half-staff observances established by law, including days with partial-day requirements.

Open the app to see the effective period, reason, next scheduled change, update time, and the linked official source.

RELIABLE FAILURE BEHAVIOR

FlagMinder does not silently present old information as current. If status information cannot be confirmed within the required freshness period, the app reports that the status is not current.

IMPORTANT

Status information may occasionally be delayed, incomplete, or unavailable. When timing is critical, confirm the information using the linked official Federal source. A governor or other authority may issue an order that applies in your location even when the Federal status remains unchanged.
