Focal: Minimal Launcher

Your phone opens to a wall of icons, badges and colour — engineered to pull you
somewhere you never meant to go. Focal replaces it with a quiet, text-only home
screen you actually want to look at.

Focal is a real Android launcher, not a wallpaper or a dashboard app. It owns
your home screen, so the noise doesn't come back the moment you press home.

QUIET BY DESIGN
• No icon grid, no badge dots, no colour noise
• Dark-only, built around a single accent colour
• Clean typography instead of decoration

EVERYTHING IN TWO TAPS
• Swipe up for universal search — apps, contacts, notes and the web in one field
• Tap a contact to dial straight from search
• Instant, native performance; no launcher lag

A PRODUCTIVITY CANVAS, NOT A MENU
• Home: clock, date, weather, your next calendar event and a daily intention line
• Swipe left for Focus — a Pomodoro timer that keeps running in the background,
plus session history and read-only screen-time stats
• Swipe right for Notes — markdown, checklists, tags and pinning, swipeable
• Habit dots on the home screen, so streaks live where you already look

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
• Local-first — notes, habits and sessions stay on your device
• No account required
• No ads. Ever.

ends; you simply drop back to the free tier.

A NOTE ON PERMISSIONS
Focal asks only when a feature needs it, never at startup.
• App list — a launcher must see your installed apps to search and launch them
• Contacts — only when you first search for a contact
• Calendar — only when you first show the agenda line
• Notifications — only when you start your first focus session
• Usage access — optional, for the read-only screen-time view
Weather is optional and can be turned off in settings; when on, it uses your IP
address to find your city and nothing else.

Make your home screen the calmest place on your phone.
