Bioparque Zoo Pomerode

Zoo Pomerode is the largest zoo in Santa Catarina and has 900 animals with more than 220 species!

Founded in 1932 by the iconic Hermann Weege, Zoo Pomerode underwent several transformations and became the first private zoo in Brazil!

In 1977 it became a non-profit foundation and all the money raised is reverted to Zoo Pomerode to stay active and protect the species under human care.

The work is focused on animal welfare and conservation. Environmental Education and research are also part of the whole story!
