About Ping: Live Location Sharing
Ping drops a pin of where you are every so often and shows your trail to the people you give a link to. That is the whole idea: one link, and whoever opens it sees where you were and which way you went.
• Made for families and friends. Parents see that the kids got to school without draining anyone's battery; friends stop losing each other at festivals, in a new city or on a hike.
• Someone is nearby. When a person whose link you follow comes within 300 m, you get a quiet note — handy for meeting up by chance.
• Where are you now? People with your link can ask for a fresh pin; the phone answers by itself, with limits so nobody can drain it.
• Your phone is lost or stolen? Your own link still shows where it was last seen.
You stay in control
• Recording runs only when you switch it on. A notification stays in the status bar the whole time — the phone never records you silently.
• Pick how often: every 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes. Fewer pins, less battery.
• Every link has its own scope and expiry, and you can revoke it in one tap.
• Pins are deleted automatically after 30 days. Erase your history or the whole account at any time from the Privacy screen.
No sign-up hassle
Pick a login and confirm it with your fingerprint or face (passkey). No email, no phone number, no password. A backup key lets you get back in from a new phone; one account works on all your devices, and the same link keeps working.
