About xili

Social media used to be about seeing what your friends were doing. Somewhere along the way, it became a place to show off, curate the perfect version of your life, and think way too hard about what is worth posting. We scroll through our galleries looking for the right photo, pick the most flattering one, edit it, and sometimes decide not to post anything at all.

That is the one thing xili changes: you do not choose the photo.

Every post starts with a random photo from your gallery. It could be something from last night, a photo you forgot existed, your lunch, your dog, the worst selfie you have ever taken, an accidental screenshot, a nude from your ex, or one of the spiciest secrets buried in your camera roll. You see the photo before sharing it, so nothing gets posted without you choosing to publish. What you do not get to choose is which photo appears.

That small rule changes the whole experience. Instead of trying to create a good post, you react to whatever your gallery throws at you. Instead of seeing the carefully selected version of your friends, you get photos they probably would never have thought to share. Sometimes they are hilarious, painfully ordinary, slightly incriminating, or in desperate need of an explanation. Those are usually the interesting ones.

### How xili works

**Shuffle your gallery**

Open the app and shuffle to randomly select a photo from your gallery. There is no photo picker and no scrolling until you find the one that makes you look best. Instead, xili gives you the photo, you look at it, and decide whether you are willing to publish it.

**Post it or use a xili**

If you are happy with the photo, publish it. If your gallery has betrayed you, spend a xili to roll again. What you cannot do is browse freely until you land on something perfectly curated. Your friends can see how many rolls it took you to post, so if someone magically ends up with a suspiciously perfect beach photo after five attempts, everyone knows how hard they fought for it.

**Post before you look**

This is not an app for lurking. Before you can see what your friends got, you have to put something of your own on the table. Once you publish, their posts are revealed and you can rate them, comment, demand context, or ask: “Why was that even in your gallery?” Everyone gives something before they get to look, making the experience feel less like consuming content and more like something you do together.

### What are xilis?

A xili is your escape button. It gives you another random roll when the first photo is too much, too boring, too cursed, or way too spicy to see daylight. You receive one free xili every day and can save up to three at a time, so use them now or keep them for the day your gallery decides to expose you. If you need more, spicy xauce can be used for additional rolls and other unlocks.

The point is not to keep rerolling until you find the perfect photo. It is deciding when to stop.

### A different kind of social media

Most social apps give you more control over how you present yourself. This one deliberately gives you less. No carefully choosing the most flattering shot. No scrolling until you find something impressive enough to show off. No pretending every dinner, trip, party, workout, or random Tuesday deserves to look like content.

Sometimes your gallery gives you a great photo. Sometimes it gives you a blurry ceiling, a half-eaten sandwich, an unhinged meme, a screenshot you cannot explain, or something you forgot existed for very good reasons. That unpredictability is what makes it fun, because your friends are not seeing only the photos you chose to show them. They are seeing little pieces of your life that chance happened to uncover.

That is xili: social media with less curation, less performance, and a lot more unpredictability. Your gallery chooses the photo. You decide whether you are brave enough to post it.
