About yapyap go: voice recorder
yapyap go is a private voice recorder and transcriber that runs entirely on your phone. Record a meeting, an interview, a lecture, or a late-night idea, and get the transcript without an account, without a cloud, and without an upload.
Your phone is always with you. yapyap go turns it into a recorder that captures every word and then writes down what it heard right there on the device.
IT TRANSCRIBES ITSELF
Stop a recording, and the transcript starts writing, using the speech recognition your phone already has. Nothing to download, nothing to configure, nothing to wait for. Tap any line to jump the audio to that exact moment.
Want more? Pick a whisper model in settings, from 57 MB up, for higher accuracy and for languages your phone can't handle offline. It downloads once and runs entirely on your device: in airplane mode, in a basement, on a plane.
IN YOUR LANGUAGE
yapyap go is translated into 181 languages, and you choose which one it speaks, whatever your phone is set to. Each one tells you how much of it is translated. Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, and Urdu turn the whole screen around. Your recordings are transcribed in your language too, not in English.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Tap record. Nothing to set up first. Capture audio in a single tap, and keep recording when you switch apps or lock your screen.
2. Read it back. The transcript appears under the recording, split into turns, and synced to the audio.
3. Do something with it. Share the transcript as text, or send the recording to your yapyap desktop. Speaker names and summaries return to your phone.
IN THE APP
• One-tap recording with start, pause, resume, and retry
• Background and screen-lock recording, so a locked phone keeps listening
• On-device transcription with no download or an offline Whisper model if you want more accuracy
• Transcripts split into turns, tap-to-seek, and shareable as plain text
• Correct a word in a transcript, and it teaches the next recording
• 181 languages for the app, picked in settings, with right-to-left layouts
• Mark a moment mid-recording with a tap and a buzz so you can find it later
• An on-device library grouped by day, with playback
• Import audio from other apps and transcribe it here
• Summaries and action items from your desktop arrive below the transcript they belong to
• Optional pairing with the yapyap desktop app: either device can start it, automatic discovery, direct device-to-device sync, per-file progress, and retry
• Free up space: remove the local copy once a recording is safely synced
• Light and dark themes
WHY YAPYAP
• Local-first. Recording and transcription both happen on your phone, never in the cloud.
• Works offline. No Wi-Fi, no signal, no problem.
• No account. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to log into.
• You're not the product. Your conversations are never mined, sold, or used to train anything.
• Own it, don't rent it. yapyap is yours to keep.
Made for knowledge workers capturing decisions and action items across back-to-back meetings, and for journalists and researchers recording interviews and field notes who need accurate, private transcripts.
BETTER WITH A DESKTOP, FINE WITHOUT ONE
yapyap go stands on its own. Pair it with the yapyap desktop app (Windows, macOS, and Linux) on the same Wi-Fi. Your recordings sync straight across, device to device, never through a server. The desktop tells apart who said what and sums up what matters. Then the answer returns to your phone, below the recording it belongs to. Either device can start the pairing, and you approve it on the other one.
A voice recorder, a dictaphone, a meeting recorder, and a multilingual offline transcription app, in one, and all of it stays on your phone.
Own your voice again.

What’s new
Version 5.0.3 · Updated October 10, 2026
Screens open faster: the app reads your library once, not again on each screen. It saves its state once a second, so scrolling stays smooth during sync. Fixed: after sync added a device to your group, the sync screen could still show it as unknown.
User reviews
The speaker identification is actually really good.
Really liked how simple Yapyap is. I didn’t have to create an account or deal with a complicated setup, which is honestly refreshing. The summaries are useful too. The mobile experience could be a little smoother though hopefully that gets improved.
smooth navigation
