About NFC EMV Explorer
Why do you want it?
(If you have doubts, try free NFC EMV Explorer - Entry Level:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wwopenfare.freereadnfccard )
**** Case 1. You want to check whether your privacy is at risk if you use contactless cards.
Surprisingly, some financial institutions do not strictly follow payment cards industry standards and privacy regulations. They issue cards that release some sensitive personal data.
Use this app, tap your card, and look for your personal data.
Apart from regular plastic cards, you can explore your “virtual” cards in Google, Apple Pay, etc. wallets in phones and watches.
**** Case 2. As a business systems analyst or a programmer you want to retrieve the card data that will allow you to use cards as contactless passes or tickets, to provide access to some services already prepaid with this card.
Service examples: public transit, movie theater, or zoo. You also want to analyze card APDU transceive latencies, to optimize your system throughputs and minimize risks.
**** Case 3. As a BSA, software developer, or tester, relatively new to EMV and NFC, you want to get a better idea about this subject matter. This app and your cards is a good illustration for a dozen of volumes of EMV standards which are not "for dummies".
The data is displayed in form of structured EMV tags. The process comprises the following APDUs:
- Select PPSE
- Select AID (application)
- Get Processing Options (GPO) with the proper PDOL
- Read all records specified in the AFL
- Generate Application Cryptogram with the proper CDOL, when applicable.
The app measures the transceive latencies for the above commands!
Tested schemes Visa; Mastercard; Interac. AmEx is partially tested.
This app is protected against using it for card data pickpocketing. Before the data is exposed to you, you must enter the last 4 digits of the card number (PAN or Device PAN/Info).
The app does not require any permissions. Hence, It cannot store or upload data. The app copies the card data to the clipboard. So, you can discard it or paste it to any application you trust (e.g. Gmail)

Owing to this application I was able to find out that my bank disclosed my cardholder name in the interac card data. Some of my friends told me that their cards data didn't contain this information. I would rather had it not included over there. It looks like other banks have more robust privacy policy vs my bank. S...
Thanks for making this app! I’ve checked my tangerine, BMO & Wealthsimple Visa. The only one that is giving away my personal information is BMO, specifically my first and last name. I will need to get in touch with them.
