BookSkim: EPUB Speed Reader

BookSkim is a fast, private EPUB reader for Android — built for people who
want to read more books and get through them faster, without ads, accounts,
or anything watching over their shoulder.

Import your own .epub files, open them instantly, and read in a clean
full-screen view designed to disappear so the book doesn't.

⚡ FAST SKIM MODE

BookSkim's signature feature. Fast Skim applies bionic-style reading
typography — the first few letters of each word are bolded so your eye
locks onto the shape of the word and your brain fills in the rest. Less
backtracking, less subvocalising, more pages per sitting.

Tap once to switch it on. Tap again to read normally. It works on any
book in your library.

📚 A REAL EPUB READER

• Import any EPUB from your device — no store, no lock-in, no DRM servers
• Fast, accurate EPUB parsing with proper chapters, images and formatting
• Table of contents drawer to jump anywhere in a book
• Full in-book search
• Highlight passages and set bookmarks that stay put
• Page-curl page turns, or just tap to advance
• Immersive full-screen reading with no status bar clutter

🎨 MADE FOR YOUR EYES

• Four themes: Light, Sepia, Dark, and true-black AMOLED for OLED screens
• Serif and Sans font styles, with fonts chosen for on-screen legibility
(Literata, Gelasio, Arimo, Montserrat)
• Adjustable font size
• Dark mode reading that's actually comfortable at 1am

📖 TAP ANY WORD

Hit a word you don't know? Tap it for an instant dictionary definition
without leaving the page. Need more, search the web in one tap — but only
if you ask for it.

🔥 KEEP THE HABIT

BookSkim tracks your reading streak and time read, so the days you finish
a chapter actually count for something. No leaderboards, no social feed —
just you and the number.

🔒 PRIVATE BY DEFAULT

This is the part most reading apps get wrong.

• No user accounts. No sign-up. No email required.
• No ads. Anywhere. Ever.
• No analytics, no tracking, no behavioural profiling.
• Your books, covers, highlights, bookmarks and settings live on your
device and nowhere else.
• Works fully offline. The only time BookSkim touches the internet is
when you tap a word for a definition, tap to web-search, or send a bug
report — all optional, all on-demand.

Read on a plane, read on the metro, read with the SIM out. It all works.

✨ NEW IN THIS VERSION

• Faster, cleaner EPUB parsing and rendering
• Redesigned table of contents
• Reading streaks and time-read stats
• Instant dictionary lookup on any word
• AMOLED theme refinements

Students working through textbooks and set reading. Professionals clearing
a non-fiction backlog. Anyone with a folder of EPUBs and no good way to
