Where is 47? : Number Search

A number is called. It is somewhere on the page, in among a hundred others written in the same hand. Find it. Cross it out. The clock is running.

That is the whole game, and it is harder than it sounds.

Where's 47? is a number search puzzle with nothing bolted on: no story, no lives, no energy bar, no timer that begs you to come back. A page of numbers, and one of them is yours to find.

CLIMB THE LEVELS
Start with three numbers on a quiet page and work up to ten on a crowded one. The page fills up as you go — sixty numbers, then a hundred, then a hundred and forty with lookalikes planted right beside the number they ape. Each level has a time to beat, but beating it is not how you move on: the ladder is there to be climbed, not to lock you out. Beat the time when you can, and the game keeps count. Past the last rung it keeps going, and stops being kind.

A DAILY PUZZLE, ONE BOARD A DAY
One shared board every day, the same for everybody, with your time kept. Five numbers on a full page of a hundred. No streak to protect and nothing to lose by missing a day.

PLAY WITH SOMEONE ELSE
Pass one phone around: one player picks the numbers in secret, the other hunts for them. Or send a challenge link and play the same board as a friend, wherever they are - the board is built from the link, so you both get exactly the same page.

A NUMBER GAME ABOUT ATTENTION
This is a concentration game, not a reflex test. Nothing moves, nothing chases you, and there is no way to lose. The difficulty is only ever the page: a hundred and forty numbers in the same handwriting, tilted, crowded, with a 41 sitting next to the 47 you are looking for. If you like number puzzles, visual search and quiet brain training, it is that without the charts and the score-shaming.

CHANGE THE PAPER
The game is played on aged foolscap with a red marker. One purchase - no subscription, no coins, nothing to collect - adds a yellow chart sheet off the wall, chalk on a dark board for the evening, and a printed riso in blue, and lets you choose the number on the front instead of 47.
