■ 800+ species, all real photographs
From tuna, sea bream and yellowtail you would meet on a dinner table, to deep-sea
oddities and reef fish of the Ryukyu Islands — over 800 species of the fish found in
and around Japan, every one of them shown as an actual photograph. Photographer and
licence have been checked for all of them.

■ The names people actually use
This is what makes the app different.
The same fish changes its name as you travel. Japanese amberjack is called
wakashi → inada → warasa → buri in Kanagawa, but tsubasu → fukuragi → gando → buri
in Toyama. Pick a prefecture on the map of Japan and you get the fish of those waters
along with the names used there — 46 of Japan's 47 prefectures are covered.
Local names are shown in Japanese with romanised readings, so you can learn them
even if you do not read Japanese.

■ Three levels of fish knowledge
- Well Known (91 species with photos) — the fish you see at the market and on the menu
- Enthusiast (430 species with photos) — for anglers and field-guide readers
- Professor (343 species with photos) — scientific names and fine identification points
Each level draws only from its own pool, so beginners and specialists both get a
real game rather than a diluted one.

■ Daily Quiz and nationwide rankings
Twenty questions a day, the same twenty for everybody. Fifteen seconds per question,
and the faster you answer the more you score. Today, this month, this year and all time.

■ Review what you got wrong
Every miss is remembered, and you can run a quiz made only of those fish.
Get one right and it graduates off the list.
