About UVC INSIGHTS
About INSIGHTS
INSIGHTS is a specialised data collection, database and analytics application for professional users working with ultraviolet (UV) disinfection technologies.
The application does not generate UV light, control UV equipment or perform disinfection. Its purpose is to provide a digital environment where professional users can record, store, organise, analyse and report data generated during UV validation activities.
Who Uses INSIGHTS?
INSIGHTS is not designed as a general consumer application. It is intended for specialised professionals involved in:
• UV disinfection and validation
• Healthcare environmental hygiene
• Infection prevention
• Laboratory and controlled environments
• UV equipment operation and servicing
• UV equipment manufacturing
• Quality assurance and validation
Organisations can create their own users, equipment, validation templates and validation criteria.
What Problem Does INSIGHTS Solve?
Validation of UV disinfection using physical UV dosimeters is an established process used by professional users for more than a decade. INSIGHTS does not introduce a new validation method, it digitises and simplifies how results from this process are recorded, organised and analysed.
Traditionally, users place physical UV dosimeters at selected locations, perform a UV disinfection cycle, assess the colour change and manually document the results. Where photographic evidence is required, dosimeters may be photographed and the images manually identified, stored and associated with the relevant room, surface, device or validation.
This can become time-consuming and fragmented, especially when multiple dosimeters are used during each validation and validations are repeated across different rooms, locations and UV devices.
INSIGHTS guides users through predefined validation locations, allows results and supporting photographs to be captured directly against each position, and organises the information within the relevant validation record.
This creates a structured database of validation results that can be searched, compared and analysed to identify patterns and support ongoing improvement.
UV Dosimeter Validation
Physical UV dosimeters are a primary data source in INSIGHTS. A UV dosimeter contains a UV-sensitive indicator that changes colour following exposure to UV energy. Users place these indicators at selected validation locations before operating their UV equipment.
After the UV cycle, the user records the dosimeter outcome within INSIGHTS. Where enabled, the user can also photograph the dosimeter. Image analysis can assist in categorising the approximate colour/result of the physical indicator. The user can review, confirm or correct the suggested result before it becomes part of the validation record.
The smartphone is not being used as a UV measuring instrument. The application records, organises and analyses information obtained from a separate physical UV dosimeter.
This makes the UV validation process easier to document while associating each dosimeter result and supporting evidence with the relevant validation position.
Main Features
INSIGHTS provides professional users with tools to:
• Create structured UV validation templates
• Define validation locations and test positions
• Record results from physical UV dosimeters
• Capture and store photographic evidence against validation points
• Associate validation results with specific UV devices
• Apply predefined validation criteria
• Store historical validation records
• Compare results between validation cycles
• Identify recurring patterns or locations with insufficient UV exposure
• Monitor validation and process performance over time
• Generate structured validation reports and documentation
• Analyse accumulated validation data to support continuous improvement
INSIGHTS can therefore transform individual validation results into a structured historical dataset rather than leaving each validation as an isolated record.
