About 英語多読 文化から紐解く洋書リーダー
This is a reading app designed to help you read classic English literature in its original language.
You might understand all the words, but struggle to connect the phrasing. That's usually where people get stuck when reading English books.
This app lets you tap on a phrase and see its meaning along with "why it's said that way."
What century and lifestyle did the phrase originate from? How much did it cost at the time? What did it originally refer to?
Instead of just dictionary definitions, you can read about the place where the word originated.
■ How to Read
・Tap a phrase to see its meaning and origin in this sentence.
・Explanations are provided for unique English expressions.
・Tap any word to see its meaning.
・Switch between the original text and a simplified English version.
・The Japanese translation can be displayed sentence by sentence, only when desired.
・The English text can be read aloud (3 speed settings).
・Choose font size and light/dark color scheme.
■ How to Continue
・One question before turning the page. Sorting allows you to instantly check the phrases you've read.
* Encountered phrases are saved in the encyclopedia.
* Continue reading from where you left off.
■ Included Works (Original texts whose copyrights have expired)
* The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (Arthur Conan Doyle / 1892)
* Treasure Island (Robert Louis Stevenson)
* Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (Lewis Carroll / 1865)
* Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Robert Louis Stevenson / 1886)
■ For those who:

* Have memorized English vocabulary but can't read English sentences.
* Are interested in etymology and English idioms themselves.
* Want to read as reading material, not for exams or qualifications.
* The text is the original. The Japanese translation, simplified English, and explanations are provided by this app.
* Advertisements will be displayed.
