About True BPM: Beat & Key Detector

TrueBPM reads the BPM and the musical key of electronic dance music through the microphone or straight from the audio files on your phone. It is built to get the number right, and it tells you how sure it is. At home with the speakers on, in the booth or at a party: wherever the music is playing.

BPM YOU CAN TRUST
BPM is what TrueBPM is for. In extensive file and field testing, the main BPM reading was right almost every time, and in the rare cases it was not, the alternative reading shown beside it was, bringing the overall accuracy above 99% so the tempo you need is almost always on the screen.
A lot of tempo apps show a number whether or not they are sure of it. TrueBPM does not guess. It listens for the beat itself and answers only when the evidence holds up; until then it keeps listening. Every reading comes with a confidence number.

THE KEY
The musical key arrives with the answer, in Camelot notation, with its own confidence and, in most cases, an alternative candidate beside it. Key is harder than tempo for any detector, so when TrueBPM is not certain it says so instead of inventing one.

MADE FOR ELECTRONIC MUSIC
TrueBPM was built around electronic music and tested on nothing else. It is not a general-purpose tempo tapper: on rock, pop, jazz or orchestral music it will not be at its best, and it is not meant for them.

FROM THE MIC
Tap LISTEN when the music plays. The BPM usually lands in about 30 seconds; the key follows once it has heard enough. If a listen ends asking for more time, tap again straight away: nothing is lost. The second listen picks up what the first one heard and builds on it, so it often gets there. PROLONGED and key-only listens start fresh each time. For loud rooms or tricky tracks, PROLONGED listening keeps going for a more careful reading.

FROM YOUR FILES
Pick a folder or a few tracks and get BPM and key for each one, in a list you keep. Long batches carry on with the screen off.

MADE FOR DJs
• BPM as a whole number you can actually mix to
• Keys in Camelot notation (8A, 5B…), usually with an alternative candidate beside them
• Six decks to choose from: CLUB, CONSOLE, WAX, MONO, WHITE LABEL and CHROME

FREE TO TRY, ONE PAYMENT TO KEEP
The free version is a demo: 20 listens and 20 file analyses, with every deck, so you can see how it reads your music before you pay. A single one-time unlock removes the limits. No subscription.

Everything is analyzed on the phone. Audio is never recorded, stored or uploaded, and there is no account. Permissions: microphone (only during a listening session you start, shown by a notification), notifications, and — if you choose it — Do Not Disturb access so the ringer stays silent while it listens.
