About beanunity
Every good bean eventually runs out. What remains is the question of how you actually brewed it.
beanunity is a coffee logbook. You photograph the package, and the app automatically reads the roastery, name, country of origin, region, variety, processing method, and roast date. Then you record how you brewed it: dosage, grind size, amount of water, time, temperature, and pre-infusion. Next time, everything is already there.
Instructional Brewing
Four filter recipes are included—James Hoffmann, April Coffee, Tetsu Kasuya 4:6, and Lance Hedrick. Based on your dosage, the app calculates the required amount of water and guides you through each step: when to pour, how much, and how long to wait. A rising level indicates how much water is still needed.
Your Scale and Pressure Sensor
Bluetooth scales from Acaia, BOOKOO, Timemore, Felicita, and Difluid report weight and time directly to the app. The extraction is recorded as a curve; you enter the yield and time with a tap in the form.
The world your coffee comes from
Each new origin brings a piece of the world map out of obscurity: 80 growing countries, over 200 regions, and 73 varieties. Each one has a few sentences explaining what makes it special. There are also badges for what you discover along the way—and a few you'll only find after unlocking them.
Your taste, in numbers
Seven axes from acidity to body. You set what you like, and the app shows you what you actually rate highly. The two remain separate—the raw data from each tasting is retained, not just the average.
The community
Share a bean in the feed, with or without a recipe. Swipe through what others are currently open and add what you want to try to your watchlist. Following is one-sided, no one needs to use your real name, and no one ever sees your email address.
What beanunity doesn't do:
No third-party tracking, no third-party analytics tools in the app. Your photos are stored in private storage and are released individually and for a limited time—a withdrawn post is truly gone. You can delete your account in the app, along with everything associated with it.
