play music theory : Linesong

play_music_theory by Linesong

Draw a line. Hear it play.

linesong turns your drawings into music. Sketch a wave and it becomes a melody, draw a flat line and it holds a note, stack a few lines and you have a band. It's the easiest way to play music theory with one finger: no notes to read, no wrong sounds, just lines that sing.

HOW IT WORKS
• Left to right is time: a playhead sweeps across and plays every line it touches
• Higher is higher: height is pitch, always snapped to the scale, so everything sounds good
• Colour is the instrument: piano, bells, flute, strings, trumpet, bass, drums and voice
• Watch each instrument's icon ride your lines as they play

PLAY MUSIC THEORY, DON'T JUST READ IT
• Turn on note names and see every note you draw
• 10 moods are real scales and modes: major, minor, major and minor pentatonic, dorian, lydian, mixolydian, phrygian, blues and harmonic minor
• Pick any key on a circle-of-fifths wheel, set the tempo (or tap it), add swing, snap and loop length
• Chord brush: draw a short vertical stroke to strum a chord
Learn music theory the way musicians feel it: by ear, by hand, by playing.

MAKE IT YOURS
• Hold any instrument and slide up or down to mix its volume
• Add drums, bass and arpeggio layers with one tap
• Remix 8 ready-made sketches to get started
• Five canvas colours, plus light and dark mode
• Haptic "frets": feel each note of the scale as you draw

SHARE YOUR SOUND
• Share to social: turn your drawing into a video with sound, your name and the music playing, ready for Reels, Shorts and WhatsApp Status
• Videos are made right on your phone, in the background, and you get a notification when they're ready
• Send a link anyone can open, listen to and remix
• Collect your drawings in a sketchbook and share the whole book with one link
