About Sedum Firecracker

For a rich blanket of color in those hot, sunny areas, try Sedum ‘Firecracker’ from breeder Chris Hansen who also brought us ‘Dazzleberry’ and ‘Lime Zinger’. This is Chris’ improvement over his previous red-foliage introduction, ‘Cherry Tart’.
You will be amazed by the foliage bud count on each dormant plug; it is a very dense growing, well-branched selection that won’t split open in summer. It puts on a strong show of burgundy red color all season long, with only the tiniest new leaves emerging mint green. Plant ‘Firecracker’ en masse in the landscape as a colorful, weed-suppressing ground cover and enjoy its vibrant pink flowers in late summer to early fall as an added bonus.

Rich, plum-purple foliage grows quickly to form a dense, well-branched blanket of color. A touch of mint green, as the new leaves emerge, contributes pleasing contrast. Pink flower clusters in late summer.
Sedum Firecracker was developed by plant breeder, Chris Hansen. Perfect for troughs, stone walls, live roofs or a massed groundcover as it will gently drape over edges. Stonecrop provides beautiful low-care summer and fall color. Sedum store water in their thick succulent leaves which enables them to be extremely drought tolerant.
Sedum General Information
Sedum are grown for their distinctive fleshy foliage. They are available in a wide range of shapes and sizes - upright and groundcovers. A reliable, hardy and easy-to-grow perennial. Star-shaped flowers are usually in clusters or sprays that often change color throughout their bloom time.
Sedum Plant Care
Sedum prefer full sun with average to poor well-drained soil. Can be divided every 2-3 years in spring. Stems pull off easily and will root readily for transplanting. Winter damaged foliage can be cut back in early spring for a flush of new growth.
