Surah Yusuf is a Meccan surah.
It was distinguished by mentioning the complete story of the Prophet of God, Joseph, in a wonderful narrative style.
It is the longest story in the Qur’an in one context, and therefore it was named after the Prophet of God, Joseph, because it includes his story.
It is the only name for it. It was said that it was the first surah that was transferred from Mecca to Medina.
It is ranked twelfth among the surahs of the Qur’an after Surat Hud and before Surat Al-Ra’ad, and the number of its verses is one hundred and eleven verses.
