About Snug

Snug is a cozy little app for two people to share the small stuff every day: how you are feeling, a note, a photo, a doodle, a question, a game, a bonsai to water together, a pet to feed together, a home to slowly decorate.

Everything happens between your two devices. There is no account, no email, no password, no server of ours. There are no ads. There is no tracking. Sync is end-to-end encrypted with a key derived from your private couple code, so the small messaging relay Snug uses only sees ciphertext.

Snug is free forever. Everything in the app is free. There are no in-app purchases and there is no subscription.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TOGETHER

• Share moods in real time: 16 built-in moods plus your own custom ones, with an optional few words.
• Send love notes, hugs, and kisses. Written notes stay sealed until opened.
• Keep a daily diary: the same question for both of you, hidden until you both answer, with a chat thread underneath. A year of pages is kept.
• Play four games together, all free: a doodle-and-guess game where one partner draws a secret word and the other guesses; a six-question themed know-each-other quiz with rounds and trophies; an async, turn-based four-in-a-row with a win ledger; and a treasure hunt on a five-by-five grid.
• Grow a bonsai you both water and fertilize, through eight stages. Give it a name and pick a pot.
• Adopt a pixel cat or dog with four coat variants. Feed and play with it.
• Earn stars for cozy activities and decorate a shared pixel home: sofas, rugs, walls, floor stains, wall paint, a shelf, a lamp, a monstera, a retro TV, and more.
• Six ambient soundtracks (rain, forest, lofi, lullaby, dawn, comfy) generated live in the app. Whichever partner picks a track, the other's device starts playing it too.
• Photo album that syncs quietly through the encrypted relay, with frames on your virtual wall.
• Countdowns for birthdays, trips, and anniversaries; a shared movie watchlist.

WHY SNUG IS DIFFERENT

Snug is a static app that installs like any other Android app. Your data lives on your device. Your partner's data lives on theirs. The two devices sync through a small open-source messaging relay called ntfy, which Snug does not run and which only ever sees encrypted bytes. You can point Snug at your own ntfy server at any time.

If you reset Snug on your device, your partner still has everything on theirs, and you can rejoin using the same couple code. If your partner resets, the same is true in reverse. Snug is designed to survive one of you starting fresh.
