Scute: App & Website Blocker

Scute was built because every app blocker we tried always had the same problem, they were too easy to get around. You can always uninstall the app, force stop it, or just toggle it off when willpower runs low. What's the point of a blocker you can work around the moment you get tempted?

With Scute, it's different. When you're locked, you're locked. You can't uninstall the app. You can't sneak into Settings to disable it. You can't "turn it off for just a minute." The whole point is to remove the option to give in.

You decide how strict you want to be. Block one app or all of them. Set a 30-minute timer or lock yourself out for a week. Use Strict Mode when you need zero escape routes, or keep it flexible with lifelines for lighter sessions.

What you can block:

• Schedule presets to activate automatically at a set time

• Runs in the background with notifications

Safety & control:
• Strict Mode disables all ways to bypass, no turning back
• Lifelines let you set a limited number of emergency unlocks per session
• Alert Notifications send a text to a trusted contact when you unlock early
• Block the Settings app to prevent permission tampering

Overlay customization:

• Skip the overlay entirely, just kick back to home
• Custom redirect to open a specific URL when a blocked app is opened

Accessibility Service: Scute uses the Android Accessibility Service to detect when blocked apps are opened and to navigate you back to the home screen. This permission is required for the core app-blocking functionality to work. No personal data is collected, stored, or shared through the Accessibility Service.

VPN Service: Scute uses a local VPN service to block access to specific websites configured by the user. The VPN runs entirely on-device — no internet traffic is routed to external servers. It only intercepts DNS requests to prevent access to blocked websites. No browsing data is collected, stored, or shared.
