Santé Initiative Uganda

Santé Initiative Uganda brings essential vision health services directly to communities across Uganda. The app helps local health workers, partner outlets, and VSLA groups provide preventive eye care and manage community health programs efficiently.

Designed for low-resource settings, the app lets Community Health Workers (CHWs) screen clients for basic vision problems, educate communities on eye health, and connect clients to care. It works offline, so screening can continue without an internet connection. Partner outlets and VSLA groups can manage registrations, track payments, and keep their records in order.

KEY FEATURES

1. Vision Screening for Communities
• Follow a guided, step-by-step screening protocol with a built-in E-chart.
• Use a torch and simple tools to check for visible eye problems such as redness or cloudiness.
• Record screening results securely in the app.
• Educate clients on preventive eye care and recommend follow-up when needed.
• Screenings support early detection and referral. They do not replace a professional eye exam.

2. Multi-role Access
• Community Health Workers (CHWs): conduct screenings, record client data and track outreach.
• Partner Outlets: manage sales of reading glasses, client registrations, and community payments.
• VSLA Groups: register members, upload required documents, and keep accurate group records.

3. Registration and Document Management
• Upload photos, registration certificates, and other documents for VSLA or SACCO groups.
• Track submissions and check that all required documents are complete.
• Receive confirmations and status updates.

4. Payment Tracking and Reporting
• Record Mobile Money and cash payments for services or membership fees.
• See pending, overdue, and completed payments with amounts in UGX.
• Keep clear financial records for community groups.
• Monitor payments at CHW and outlet level.

5. Stock and Referrals
• Track reading glasses stock by power and frame type.
• Create referrals to health facilities, set urgency, and follow up in the community.

6. Offline Support
• Screen clients, collect data, and manage registrations without an internet connection.
• Data syncs automatically when the device is back online.

7. English and Luganda
• Use the app in English or Luganda.
• Clear instructions help CHWs and clients enter data accurately.

SAFETY AND PRIVACY
• Client data is stored securely and sent safely to our servers.
• No personal data is shared with third parties without consent.
• Screenings are non-invasive and non-diagnostic. They are for education and referral only.
