All AT&T Captivate (US-AT&T version of Samsung Galaxy S) phones have a hardware issue where the Search Button gets automatically pressed if your phone is exposed to moisture. This can get really annoying as the phone opens up the search screen, hides the keyboard and moves focus away from the current application ensuring that you can't get anything done.
This application disables the search button by modifying the handset's keyboard layout files. You can even restore (unfix) the layout files if you need to.
This app is open source software. You can access the source code at https://github.com/born2c0de/captivate-search-button-fix
This app is designed to work for other phones as well but provides no guarantees.
NOTE:
1) Since I've only encountered phones where the search key had problems, I have disabled the other buttons (HOME, MENU and BACK) from being fixed. If you have issues with other buttons, send me an email and I'll enable the button for the application.
2) YOU NEED TO HAVE ROOT PERMISSIONS AND BUSYBOX TO USE THIS APP.
