Northanger Abbey was the first of Jane Austen's novels to be completed for publication, in 1803. She wrote between 1798 and 1803. The advertisement in Northanger Abbey was written by Austen herself before her death. She is one of the most beautiful novels she has written.
Catherine Morland is a fairly unremarkable seventeen-year-old living in a small village, Fullerton, with her nine siblings and her parents. The Allens, a well-off childless couple, invite Catherine to visit tourist hot-spot Bath with them. While in Bath, Catherine meets and befriends two families: the scheming Thorpes and the wealthy, educated Tilneys. She first meets the charming and witty Henry Tilney at a ball and quickly develops a huge crush on him….
