RomaTalk: AAC Speech Cards

Some children know exactly what they want. They just cannot say it yet.

RomaTalk gives them a way to say it. Your child taps a picture, the app speaks the word out loud, and the thing they wanted becomes something they can ask for. Nothing to read, nothing to type, nothing to learn first. Just pictures and a voice.

It is an AAC app (augmentative and alternative communication), close in spirit to PECS picture exchange, made for children on the autism spectrum, children with a speech delay or apraxia, and any child for whom pictures come easier than words. It works completely offline, with no ads, no account and no tracking.

WHAT YOUR CHILD DOES
- Taps a card and hears it spoken aloud
- Lines up a few cards and plays the whole sentence, like "I want juice"
- Starts from the words that matter first: I want, yes, no, help, eat, drink
- Browses warm, hand drawn categories: food, feelings, people, animals, places
- Hears their own name when the app opens, in your voice if you record it

PRACTICE, WHEN THEY ARE READY
Nine short exercises that you set up and your child plays. There is no way to fail: a wrong card simply slides away and the word is said again. Nothing buzzes, and nothing is scored in front of the child.

Find the card. Listen and point. Yes or no. Finish the phrase. Put in order. Two words. First sound. Odd one out. What is it for.

Choose the words yourself or start from a ready made set. A quiet statistics screen shows what is landing and what is not, so you can drop what your child already knows and add something new.

A CHOICE, NOT A WHOLE BOARD
Sometimes a full board is too much at once. Put two to six cards on the screen and let your child pick between them, with a separate set for each moment of the day: breakfast, getting dressed, playtime.
