Road Witness Automatic Dashcam

Road Witness turns your phone into an automatic dashcam and drive recorder for everyday driving. Mount your phone, arm the app, and drive. Road Witness detects when your vehicle starts moving and begins capturing footage automatically, so you do not have to remember to press a button.

Built for commuters, delivery drivers, rideshare drivers, road trips, and anyone who wants a simple phone dashcam for added peace of mind on the road.

Automatic capture for every drive
Road Witness uses your phone's motion sensors to help detect real driving movement. When you start driving, the app begins saving video. When you park and stop moving, video capture can stop automatically.

Background dashcam operation
Once you explicitly arm Road Witness, it can continue documenting your drive while you use navigation, music, calls, or other apps. Recording can also continue with your screen turned off, so your phone can work as a car camera without needing constant attention.

Focused on the road, not a live preview
Road Witness is designed for hands-free driving rather than watching a camera screen. It intentionally does not use a live preview while you drive, helping keep your attention on the road and avoiding unnecessary on-screen activity. The app focuses on capturing useful dashcam footage in the background.

Smart phone-mount detection
Road Witness can detect when your phone is mounted upright or nearly upright for dashcam use. You can configure the angle threshold to match your phone holder and preferred mounting position.

Flexible video quality settings
Choose the video quality that works best for your phone, available storage, and recording needs. Road Witness is designed to prioritize clear, useful footage while giving you control over the balance between video quality and storage use.

Smart storage management
Video is saved in segments, making longer trips easier to manage. Road Witness can automatically remove the oldest clips when storage space runs low, helping keep important dashcam footage under control.

Trip history, statistics, and route maps
Review completed drives in one place. Road Witness helps you look back at trip details, driving statistics, and a map of the route, making it easier to revisit your journeys and find important moments.

Private by design
Your footage stays on your device. Road Witness does not require cloud storage, accounts, or subscriptions. Your videos are yours.
