Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi (1919-1969) was one of the pioneers of recitation. He was distinguished by a distinct and sad style in his recitations. Sheikh Muhammad was born in the village of: Al-Bawarik, in the city of Al-Mansha in the Sohag Governorate in the Arab Republic of Egypt,[1] and he completed memorizing the Holy Qur’an when he was eight years old. He grew up in an ancient Qur’anic family. His father, Sheikh Siddiq Al-Minshawi, was the one who taught him the art of reading the Holy Qur’an. His father, the venerable Sheikh Siddiq Al-Minshawi, established this beautiful, unique, ancient school, and we can call it (the Minshawi School), so Sheikh Muhammad took his style from it and developed it to suit him. He became one of the most prominent servants of the Qur’an. Sheikh Muhammad derived much from that school, which was the reason for his success after his humble voice, and Sheikh Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi was nicknamed “the crying voice.”

The late imam of preachers, Sheikh Muhammad Metwally Al-Shaarawi, said about him: “He and his four companions are reciters; Others board a boat and sail in the sea of ​​the Holy Qur’an, and this boat will not stop sailing until God - Glory be to Him - inherits the earth and those on it.

His fame spread and he was well received due to the sweetness, beauty, and uniqueness of his voice, in addition to his mastery of the positions of recitation, and his deep affection for the meanings and words of the Qur’an. Sheikh Al-Minshawi has a complete recording of the Holy Qur’an recited, and he also has many recordings in Al-Aqsa Mosque, Kuwait, Syria and Libya. He also recorded a high-quality Qur’anic recitation on Egyptian radio. He also has a joint reading of Al-Douri’s narration with reciters Kamel Al-Bahtimi and Fouad Al-Arousi. Muhammad Siddiq Al-Minshawi is considered one of the most famous reciters in the Islamic world.

He was married twice and had four sons and two daughters from his first wife, and from his second five sons and four daughters. His second wife died while performing the Hajj rituals a year before his death. In 1966, he contracted esophageal varicose veins, and despite his illness, he continued reading the Qur’an until he passed away on Friday, Rabi’ al-Thani 5, 1389 AH, corresponding to June 20, 1969 AD.

Trying to kill him with poison
The sheikh narrated it to some of those close to him when some haters tried to invite him to dinner after one of his evenings (i.e., a nightly recitation) and recommended that the cook put poison in the food for him, but the cook told the sheikh and asked him not to reveal his secret, and God saved the sheikh from the plot.[2]

Sheikh Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hosary (September 17, 1917 - November 24, 1980) is an Egyptian Qur’an reciter and is considered one of the prominent figures in this field. He was born in the village of Shubra Al-Namla, Tanta, Gharbia Governorate. He has many recorded Qur’ans with different narrations. Before his birth, his father had moved from Fayoum Governorate to this village where he was born. He is an Egyptian Qur’an reciter who was proficient in reading the Holy Qur’an with the ten recitations.

His upbringing and life
His father, Mr. Khalil, moved before his birth from Fayoum Governorate to the village of Shubra Al-Namla, where Al-Hosary was born. His mother is Mrs. Farah, or as the villagers call her, “Farha.” His father introduced him to the book at the age of four years so that he could memorize the Qur’an, and he completed the memorization at the age of eight. He used to go from his village to the Ahmadi Mosque in Tanta every day to memorize the Qur’an, and at twelve he joined the religious institute in Tanta. Then he learned the ten recitations after that at Al-Azhar.

He took his degrees in that science (the science of readings) and then devoted himself to studying the sciences of the Qur’an because of his distinguished voice and good performance. In 1944, he took the radio exam and was ranked first among those who took the radio exam. In 1950 AD, he was appointed reciter of the Ahmadi Mosque in Tanta, and in 1955 AD he was appointed reciter of the Al-Hussein Mosque in Cairo. He was the first to record the recited audio Qur’an with the narration of Hafs on the authority of Asim. He was the first to call for the establishment of a union for reciters of the Holy Qur’an, which would look after their interests and guarantee them a decent means of living. He called for the necessity of establishing offices for memorizing the Qur’an in all cities and villages, and he built a mosque and a memorization office in Cairo. Sheikh Al-Husri realized from an early age the importance of reciting the Qur’an in understanding the Qur’an and conveying its message. For him, reading is a science and principles. He believes that reciting the Qur’an embodies the Qur’anic vocabulary in a living way, and thus embodies the meaning that those words aim at... Reciting the Qur’an also puts the reader in a rational confrontation with the Qur’anic text, making the reader feel the responsibility placed on his shoulders.
