About Renge

Renge is a voice companion for daily Buddhist practice. You talk, it listens and answers — no typing, no menus to learn.

TALK
Open the app and begin a conversation. Renge is a study companion, not a search box: it answers in the language of Nichiren Buddhist practice — gongyo and daimoku, the Gosho, human revolution — and it remembers what you brought last time, so a conversation picks up rather than starting over. You can interrupt it mid-sentence the way you would a person.

LEARN
Eleven introductory topics, searchable, each one a short summary and a question to sit with. The summaries are Renge's own writing, never quotations, and every topic links out to the Soka Gakkai Study Materials collection it draws on. Renge is a way in, not a substitute for the source texts.

REFLECT
A notebook for a determination for the day and one prompt at a time. Reflections are kept on your phone under your account, and are never uploaded with a conversation.

HISTORY
Every conversation you have had, newest first, so you can look back over what you brought and what was said.

WHAT YOU NEED
An account — email and password, or Google — and a connection. Conversations happen in real time, so they need the microphone and a reasonable signal.

PRIVACY
Your voice is streamed to Renge's gateway and its voice-model provider to hold the conversation, and is not recorded or kept. What is kept is the conversation itself — that is what lets your history and the companion's memory work. None of it is ever used to track you across other companies' apps or websites, and none of it is sold. You can delete your account and its data from inside Settings at any time, and the full policy is linked from this listing.

Renge is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Soka Gakkai or any other Buddhist organization.
