About Quill Stave Notes
Quill Stave Notes is a silent trainer for reading standard musical notation. It plays nothing at all. There is no audio playback, no metronome, no pitch reference and no sound file anywhere inside the app: every exercise is answered with your eyes, by recognising what is printed on the stave.
Five tabs, all fully offline.
STAVE - a reference browser for the treble, bass and alto clefs. Every printed position is listed from two ledger lines below the stave to two above, each drawn on its own stave. Tap a note for a detail card with its full name, its ledger-line context and a memory hook. A second view lists the intervals from a unison to an octave with a worked example on the clef you chose.
DRILL - timed naming practice. A note appears on the clef and range you selected, four names are offered, and the answer is marked instantly. Twenty questions per round, with a live streak counter, elapsed time and a round summary. Switch the drill to intervals and name what you see between two heads instead.
RHYTHM - a bar-filling workshop. Pick a time signature, then add note and rest values until the bar adds up exactly. The running total is shown as a fraction of the bar and in beats, values that would overflow the bar are refused, and eighths and sixteenths are beamed automatically. Ties, dots and every rest from whole to sixteenth are included.
KEYS - the circle of fifths drawn as an interactive dial. Tap any wedge for the major key, its relative minor, the number of accidentals, the fixed printing order and the rule for finding the tonic, with the signature drawn on the clef of your choice. Underneath it, a key-signature identification drill keeps score.
PROGRESS - per-clef and per-topic mastery bars, best streaks, bars filled, and a hand-drawn sparkline of your accuracy round by round. Everything is stored on your device and survives a restart.
All fifteen key signatures are covered, with the correct order and printed position of every sharp and flat on all three clefs. The notation itself - clefs, note heads, stems, flags, beams, dots, ties, rests, accidentals, time signatures, bar lines and ledger lines - is drawn as vector geometry on a canvas, so it stays crisp at any size and needs no image files.
No internet connection. No adverts. No analytics. No accounts. No in-app purchases. No sound.
A visual reading aid for beginners learning their first clef, for players picking up a second or third clef, and for anyone who wants note recognition to become instant.
