About QSO One

QSO One puts the amateur radio networks you use into a single app.

Free, no ads, and no functionality is paywalled.

Connect to AllStarLink nodes, EchoLink repeaters and conferences, DMR talkgroups on BrandMeister, TGIF and FreeDMR (more to come), Fusion reflectors, M17 reflectors, and IAX Direct. One app, one set of settings, one push to talk button. More networks are added over time.

Built by a ham, for hams.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

Connect to any network in the app and talk, using your phone, tablet or PC. No hotspot and no radio required.

Browse full directories for every network, searchable and sorted, with favorites you can arrange how you like.

Find nets with Net Finder, a searchable directory of scheduled nets with reminders so you do not miss the ones you care about.

Log your contacts, with QRZ and HamQTH lookups and upload to your QRZ logbook.

See who is talking, with recently heard lists.

See where they are, on a live station map on M17.

Use a Bluetooth PTT button, your phone's own PTT key, or the on screen button.

Record your QSOs and play them back.

Earn badges and trophies as you go, for your first contact, distance worked, grid squares, countries and time on the air.

BUILT TO BE USABLE BY EVERYONE

QSO One works with screen readers on both Android and Windows. Buttons, tabs, badges and connection status are announced properly, and connecting, connected, disconnected and transmit time out are spoken out loud. The whole app is reachable by keyboard on Windows, with a visible focus ring.

This is ongoing work, and reports from operators who use assistive technology are welcome and acted on.

ONE APP ON EVERY SCREEN YOU OWN

QSO One runs on Android phones, Android tablets and Windows PCs, with the same settings and the same credentials on all of them. Set it up once.

A LICENSE IS REQUIRED TO TRANSMIT

QSO One connects to real amateur radio networks. Transmitting on them requires a valid amateur radio license in your country, and your own callsign and credentials for the networks you use.

MADE BY ONE PERSON, WITH A LOT OF HELP

QSO One is built and maintained by one operator, with bugs found and reported by the people who use it. Reports go straight into the app and get answered.

If something is broken, tell me, and it gets fixed.

Hardware PTT button support (Google Play version)

Many push-to-talk radios and rugged phones have a dedicated PTT key. QSO One can learn that key and use it to transmit. If you turn on the optional "QSO One PTT" accessibility service, that key also works while QSO One is in the background or the screen is off. The service watches only the one key you taught QSO One. It does not log keystrokes, it does not read other apps, and nothing leaves your device. It is off by default, and you can turn it off any time in Android Settings, Accessibility.
