Ping Bee: Uptime & LAN Monitor

Most uptime monitors run in a datacentre. That is fine for your public website — and useless for the NAS in your cupboard.

Ping Bee checks from your phone instead. Anything your phone can reach, it can watch: a NAS, Home Assistant, a Raspberry Pi, Pi-hole, a printer, a router admin page, any self-hosted service on a LAN address like http://192.168.1.50:8123 — with nothing exposed to the internet, no port forwarding, no tunnel and no agent to install. Your public sites go in the same list.

There is no account. No sign-in, no email, no password, no server of ours in the middle. Your list of addresses and every check result stay on the device.

WHAT IT DOES • Watch any address — public URL or private/LAN, each with its own check interval • Down and recovery notifications — told when it breaks, and again when it comes back • An alarm, not just a buzz — for the one that must not be down, it rings like an alarm clock until you acknowledge it. Quiet hours keep it silent when you are off duty • Uptime and response-time charts, plus an event log of every check, status code and outage • HTTPS certificate expiry warnings • Home screen widget with a live status list and tap-to-refresh • Light and dark themes, both fully built

GOOD FOR Homelab and self-hosted setups. Small agencies watching client sites. Anyone who wants downtime alerts without handing a list of their sites to a monitoring company.

FREE Up to 5 monitors, 24 hours of history, down and recovery notifications, the alarm, quiet hours, uptime and response charts, both themes. No ads.

PRO — ONE TIME Unlimited monitors, one-minute checks while the app is open, 30 days of history, certificate expiry warnings, slow-response alerts, extra alarm options, the home screen widget, export and import. One payment. Never a subscription. Nothing quietly stops working if you stop paying.

WORTH KNOWING BEFORE YOU INSTALL Checks run on your phone, not on a server, and that cuts both ways. • While the app is open it keeps to the interval you chose. • When it is closed, Android decides when apps may run, so background checks are best effort and battery saver can delay them. Turning on background monitoring holds much closer to your interval, at the cost of the permanent notification Android requires. • A monitor on a private address only checks while the phone is on that network — out of the house, it will report down. We would rather you read that here than find out during an outage.
