Safety Scout

Safety Scout is a calm, interactive online-safety education app designed to help children recognise unsafe behaviour, respond with confidence and involve a trusted adult when something does not feel right.

Through six chapters and 26 short lessons, children explore realistic online situations involving secrecy, pressure, manipulation, private messages, requests for personal information, gifts, contact outside an app and other warning signs. Each lesson guides the child through a simple four-step learning experience:

• Spot the important safety clue
• Understand why it matters
• Practise what to do next
• Remember a clear safety takeaway

Safety Scout focuses on recognising patterns rather than frightening children. The language is age-appropriate, supportive and designed to reinforce that children are never to blame for unsafe contact.

Children can follow their progress through the Safety Journey, complete chapters, earn patches and build their Safety Passport as they work through the lessons.

The PIN-protected Parent Hub gives parents and carers additional support, including:

• Clear explanations of what each lesson teaches
• Conversation starters for discussing online safety at home
• Age-range guidance
• Immediate-danger and escalation guidance
• Links to trusted official child-safety organisations and resources

Safety Scout is designed for approximately ages 9–14, with parent or carer supervision. Adults should decide which lessons are suitable for their child.

Privacy is kept simple:

• No online account is required
• No advertising or analytics are used
• No location, camera, microphone or contacts access is required
• Child profile, PIN and lesson progress information stay stored locally on the device

Safety Scout is an educational resource. It is not a crisis, counselling or official reporting service. If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services.
