About Talking Cards: AAC for Kids

Every child has something to say. Talking Cards helps them say it.

Your child taps friendly picture cards and the app speaks a real, grammatical sentence out loud — not a robotic list of words. Tap "want" and "water" and it says "I want some water."

Talking Cards is an AAC board — Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It is made to be used alongside a child's own talking, never instead of it, from first words to full sentences: for late talkers, children with speech delays, autistic children, and every child still finding their words.

★ FAMILY VOICES
Record your own voice for any card: mom, dad, grandma, or your child. That card then speaks in your voice instead of the built-in one. Add several family voices, choose which is the main one, and see your recording progress. Share a voice pack with the other parent or a therapist. Recordings stay on your device.

★ SING & PLAY
A rainbow piano with 10 classic children's songs. The melody lights up the keys, the song's lyrics appear on screen, and the matching picture cards dance to the beat — tap one and it speaks. Children can sing into the microphone and hear themselves back.

★ SAY IT BACK
The app says a word, your child repeats it into the microphone, then hears themselves as a robot, a birdie or a giant. Speaking practice that feels like a toy.

★ FIVE FULL LANGUAGES
English, Arabic (fully vocalized, right-to-left), Spanish, French and Turkish — each with its own real grammar engine and natural-sounding voices for every word. Switch languages with one tap and the same cards re-speak in the new one.

★ A REAL SENTENCE, NOT FLASHCARDS
• Nearly 1,700 illustrated cards across 68 friendly categories
• Suggestion chips that offer the likely next word
• 72 illustrated storybooks and interactive scenes
• Learning games: quiz, spelling, matching, counting, and more
• Always-visible Yes / No / Help, plus an emergency button

★ MADE FOR THE WAY CHILDREN LEARN
• Card positions never move — muscle memory is fluency for AAC users
• Vocabulary levels that grow with your child
• Games that can't be failed — only encouragement
• Sticker rewards and gentle celebrations, never punishment

★ SAFE BY DESIGN — KID LOCK
Kid Lock pins the app to the screen: Home, Back and the notification shade stop working until a grown-up unpins. Parent settings sit behind a grown-ups gate with an optional PIN.

★ PRIVACY YOU CAN TRUST
• Works offline for everyday use — no account, no tracking, no ads
• One optional permission: the microphone, used only when you choose to record
• Your recordings and your photos stay on your device — the app never uploads them anywhere

★ FOR PARENTS & THERAPISTS
Behind the grown-ups gate: build routines and day plans, create custom cards with your own photos, set up child profiles, pin emergency words, choose voices and speed, print a paper board, and see an activity dashboard.

Talking Cards is free to use, with one optional one-time unlock for the full library and extra features. No subscriptions. No ads. Made by a dad, for every family still waiting to hear their child's words.

What’s new

Version 2.31.0 · Updated October 23, 2026

Let's Talk now speaks every language. Arabic, Spanish, French and Turkish each have their own conversations — twelve everyday chats, four little stories the child steers, and a counting round built from their own cards. Written in each language, not translated. Also new: a free week to try everything (three of them), bigger pictures in the games on tablets, and counting by pointing — tap each picture and it takes the next number.

Great idea and my kid really likes the app. Simple and useful. My only issue is that some cards images are a little to small, and sometimes I have to explain what the picture means. Bigger cards would make it even better.
