About Parallax — Remote for LG webOS

Parallax is a remote control for LG Smart TVs running webOS. It talks to your television directly over your own Wi-Fi — there is no server in between, no account to make, and nothing to sign up for.

WHAT IT DOES
• A direction pad, a trackpad with two-finger scrolling, and a pointing mode that aims your phone at the screen
• Volume, channels, mute and power
• Your channels as a list — searched by number as readily as by name, with the ones the set itself has starred first
• Every app on your television, searchable, with the ones you never use hidden
• A keyboard, so an email address takes seconds instead of a minute of spelling it out with arrows
• Scenes: turn the TV on, switch to HDMI 2 and open Netflix, in one tap
• Screen capture, and what is playing right now
• Picture settings — brightness, picture mode, eye comfort
• A remote in your notification shade, so the volume is one swipe away without opening anything
• Wake the television over the network, when it supports it

HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT CANNOT DO
Controls your television refuses are hidden rather than shown dead, and ones it refuses today are disabled with the reason next to them. If sound goes out to a soundbar, the app says so instead of leaving you pressing a volume button that does nothing.

PRIVACY

REQUIREMENTS
An LG Smart TV with webOS, on the same Wi-Fi as your phone. Pointing mode needs a phone with a gyroscope, and is simply not offered on one without.
