About RLQuest: Outdoor Adventures

RLQuest turns the world outside your door into a game.

Every morning you get a handful of quests. Walk a mile. Photograph a waterfall. Find the trailhead you’ve driven past a hundred times. Stand on a summit at sunrise. Each one is small enough to do today and specific enough to be worth doing.

AN EXPLORATION MAP THAT FILLS IN

The map starts dark. Every walk uncovers it, tile by tile, and it stays uncovered. More than 1.8 million real places across North America and Europe are waiting on it: trailheads, waterfalls, scenic overlooks, springs, summits, old churches, monuments, beaches — and castles and lighthouses when you’re over there. Most are closer than you think, and many tell their story right on the place card.

FIRST DISCOVERIES

Almost every one of these places is still undiscovered in RLQuest. Be the first person to complete a quest there, on the spot, and that discovery stays yours. You can also share your map as an image: just the shape of what you’ve uncovered — no streets, no place names.

THE PLACE BOOK

Every place you reach goes into your Place Book, sorted by kind — waterfalls, summits, churches, lighthouses and more — with your first discoveries, the year it was built, where that applies, and the story of the place to read.

DAILY QUESTS, NOT A CATALOG

Quests are assigned, not browsed. A catalog makes you choose, and choosing is what keeps people on the couch. Instead you open the app and the day already has a shape.

The assignment knows things. A rain quest shows up on a rainy day, not in a dry July. A frost quest shows up the morning after an actual freeze. A waterfall quest shows up when there’s one within reach. A night quest isn’t handed to you at nine in the morning.

REAL VERIFICATION

A photo quest checks the photo. A walking quest measures the walk. A step quest reads your step count. Nothing is awarded for tapping a button, which is what makes finishing one feel like something.

XP, LEVELS, STREAKS

Every quest gives XP. XP gives levels. Days in a row give a streak. 213 achievements sit in a book, arranged in series, and most of them you find by living rather than by grinding.

SEASONAL EXPEDITIONS

Each season brings an expedition: over ninety quests that exist for that season and then are gone. Fall is fog, wet leaves and light that leaves early. Winter is dark early, bright late, and one light after another.

WHAT RLQUEST IS NOT

Not a fitness tracker. No calories, no rings to close, no lectures about your step count. Walking is how you play, not a metric you’re measured against.

Not a social feed. Your photos are proof for you, not content for strangers. No timeline, no likes, no followers, no chat.

Not a scavenger hunt you do once on a Sunday. RLQuest is a habit. You open it in the morning and it asks what you’re doing today.

PRIVACY YOU CAN CHECK

The map stores which areas you’ve entered, not where you were standing. Your location is never sold, never shared with advertisers, never used to build a profile. Photos stay on your device unless a quest needs one as proof, and then that copy is deleted. Filling in the map while your screen is locked is a switch you flip yourself, and you can flip it back.

PREMIUM

More quests per day, adventures built around how much time you have and how far you want to go, offline maps for walks without cell service, seasonal expeditions and deeper stats. Premium extends the game. It doesn’t hold it hostage, and nothing is locked behind a countdown.

Get outside. Complete quests. Level up.

What’s new

Version 1.5.1 · Updated October 13, 2026

Rivers are no longer lakes. Zoomed out, the map drew river courses as wide bodies of water, and places on the bank sat in the middle of it. A river now stays a line until you’re close enough. On launch, the map loads your tiles once instead of twice, and your own quests save faster. Tell us what’s missing: [email protected]
