Mapio: PDF maps & offline

Mapio turns your phone into a GPS for the field. Open a georeferenced map (PDF or GeoTIFF) and see yourself on it, in real time, with no signal.
Mapio is a private, independent app: it does not represent and is not affiliated with any government or public body.

WHAT IT OPENS
• Georeferenced PDFs (TerraGo GeoPDF and ISO 32000 PDFs with georeferencing).
• TIF, TIFF and GeoTIFF: the drone orthomosaic, the agronomist's image, the survey map.
• Sent one by WhatsApp or email? Open it with Mapio.

MEASURE
• Distance and area in hectares, acres, metres or feet, by tapping the screen or walking the field with GPS.
• Polygons you can fix: drag a vertex or add one.
• Centre pivots by centre, radius and fraction of the circle.
• Share a measurement, a field or your location for free, with a Google Maps link.

MARK
• Points with a name, note, photos and colour, on your maps or the online map.
• Organise them with folders and tags, and export them as GPX or CSV.

SAVED FIELDS AND PIVOTS
• Save a field once and use it on any map.
• Import yours as KML, KMZ or shapefile and export them to QGIS, Auravant or the planter monitor.

ONLINE MAP
• OpenStreetMap and high-resolution satellite imagery with town names and roads, nothing to import.
• Search a town or a farm, or paste coordinates (that works with no signal).
• With no data, what you already viewed still shows.
• Your map over the satellite image, as transparent as you like.

ROTATIONAL GRAZING
• Split the field into equal strips and rotate the fence line.
• Instant stocking rate in head and liveweight per hectare.
• Laneway and water point: every paddock with access to water, and how far the herd walks.
• Strip size from rest and grazing periods, or from forage measured in the field.
• Metres of wire for strips and permanent paddocks. Export them as KML, KMZ or shapefile.

SATELLITE ZONING
• Management zones from up to 5 years of Sentinel-2 imagery analysed for your field.
• Headland separated from the centre, and stability across seasons.
• Variable-rate prescriptions: several products per operation, rate per zone and total to buy.

FIELD ANALYSIS
• Sentinel-2 indices by date: NDVI, EVI, NDRE, NDMI and 19 more, each with what it measures and its source.
• Water: on one date, and the 1984-2021 history from the JRC.
• Terrain from the Copernicus DEM: relative elevation and landscape position, with a test against 38 years of observed water.
• Each layer states its limits: terrain is a model and water on one day is not a flood risk.
• Export it all to QGIS (GeoTIFF and Shapefile).

ONLINE AND OFFLINE
• Offline: opening your maps, locating yourself, measuring, paddock planning, marking points and exporting.
• Online: the satellite map the first time, place search, zoning (do it before heading out) and field analysis, which downloads everything each time.

Free: opening maps, locating yourself, measuring, marking points, saving fields and the online satellite map. Mapio Pro adds field analysis, satellite zoning and its prescriptions, grazing paddocks, import and export, and an ad-free map. Monthly or yearly subscription, cancel from Google Play at any time.

PRIVACY
No accounts, no servers of ours: your maps, fields and points stay on the phone. Your location is processed there and only leaves if you share it. The data is excluded from Google backup, so on a new phone you have to import your maps again. The free version shows Google AdMob ads and, where the law requires it, asks for your consent first.
