About Slant: Color Blind Camera
Slant is a free color blind camera, color identifier and color detector for red-green color blindness (colour blindness in the UK). It's a color blind assist: point your phone at anything and the colors you mix up start to move. Reds get stripes, greens get dots, and the circle names the color under it. No ads, no account. Tips are optional.
Color codes, a one-time purchase, adds the hex, RGB and HSV codes under each thing you tap in a frozen picture in Name a color, with Copy. Everything else stays free.
Four tools. Patterns puts the stripes and dots on everything, and nothing else. Name a color adds the circle that names the color under it. Find a color keeps one color and turns the rest gray. Show someone shows how colors can look to you.
In Name a color, the circle in the middle names the color under it, live, in plain words. When Slant isn't sure, it says so: the likelier color big, and the other possibility small underneath.
Plain names. Slant starts with simple names like red, light blue or dark green. Switch to detailed names like navy or mocha in Settings if you want them.
For the moments you'd otherwise ask someone:
• Wires. In Name a color, freeze the picture, tap one wire, then the other, and Slant names each one. Always check wiring with a tester.
• Clothes. Navy or black? Brown or green? Point at your socks and read the name, and the "or" when there is one.
• Fruit. Red ones stripe and green ones get dots, so you can pick them out of a pile.
• Around the house. Colored pencils, charts, maps, towels, paint chips.
Light and zoom. Turn on your phone's light in a dark room, and zoom in 2x or 4x on small things.
The stripes tell you the shade. Pink-reds lean one way, crimson stands upright, and orange-reds lean the other.
More colors get marks. On the red-green setting, yellows get fine level lines, purples a crosshatch, and olive greens get dots like the other greens, so yellow and green, or purple and pink, are easier to tell apart.
Every match answers. When the color under the circle changes, a ripple runs across the picture, and everything else of that color flashes as it passes.
Find a color. Tap a color in the picture, slide along the color strip, or pick it by name. Choose narrow, medium or wide, and everything else turns gray.
Show someone. By default, it opens on a simulation of how red-green color blindness (deuteranopia) can look, over the whole picture. Tap the picture to switch between the simulation and the real colors, or pick Both and drag the line across the screen. Settings can switch it to protan or tritan. Hand the phone to family or friends.
Fit it to your eyes. In Settings, pick the pair that's harder for you to tell apart, red and green or blue and yellow, then slide until two squares look clearly different to you.
Share what you see. In Name a color, freeze and send a friend the picture with its name on it, like "Slant says: navy. Could be black." When Slant isn't sure, the picture says so too.
Save what you checked. In Name a color, keep the colors you compared, with a small picture of each, in a notebook on your phone.
Private by design. Slant has no internet permission. The app never sends the camera picture anywhere unless you choose to share it, and it uploads nothing, tracks nothing and sells no data. There are no ads and no accounts, and it works offline.
Slant helps you tell colors apart. It doesn't test, diagnose or treat color blindness, and it doesn't change how your eyes see.

User reviews
Thank you for making this app. Having issues with different shades of Green & Red, this app has helped a lot. Specifically with battery charging light indicators. This helps in that challenge. Thank you! 👍
