Mushroom Mentor is your all-in-one AI-powered companion for mushroom lovers, farmers, and curious learners. Whether you’re cultivating mushrooms for business, foraging in the wild, or cooking up delicious meals, Mushroom Mentor helps you detect diseases instantly, explore unique species, and discover expert tips for healthy growth and safe consumption.

Using advanced AI image recognition, the app can diagnose mushroom diseases in seconds — simply snap a photo with your phone and get accurate results, complete with the disease name, severity level, treatment suggestions, and prevention methods. This technology is trained on thousands of mushroom images, ensuring reliable detection even in varying lighting and environmental conditions. It’s designed to save farmers time, reduce crop loss, and help maintain healthy harvests year-round.

Mushroom Mentor has a special focus on the mushrooms of Meghalaya, a region rich in biodiversity and home to many rare and culturally significant species. Through the app’s Mushroom Explorer, you can learn about wild and cultivated varieties like Termitomyces, Auricularia, and Pleurotus ostreatus, discover their habitats, edibility, medicinal uses, and cultural significance, and explore seasonal availability.

For farmers and growers, the Farming Tips section offers step-by-step guides on everything from selecting the right species for your climate, preparing substrates, and spawning techniques, to maintaining optimal temperature and humidity, harvesting at the right time, and storing your mushrooms for maximum shelf life. Disease prevention resources include hygiene protocols, safe pest control methods, environmental monitoring advice, and organic cultivation practices — all written to be beginner-friendly yet detailed enough for experienced cultivators.

Food enthusiasts will enjoy the Recipe Library, which features both traditional Meghalayan dishes and global gourmet creations. Try local favorites like pork with wild mushrooms or bamboo shoot curry, or explore international recipes such as creamy mushroom risotto and garlic butter oyster mushrooms. Each recipe comes with ingredient lists, step-by-step instructions, and cooking tips to bring out the best flavor and texture.

Who can benefit? Farmers get quick, on-site disease detection; foragers can identify edible species; chefs and home cooks gain new culinary inspiration; researchers can explore regional mushroom biodiversity; and agriculture students can learn practical cultivation skills.

Built with a modern tech stack — React Native for cross-platform mobile support, a Flask backend on AWS EC2, YOLOv5 AI models for detection, and secure S3 storage — Mushroom Mentor is fast, reliable, and scalable. Security is prioritized through HTTPS encryption and data privacy safeguards.

Mushroom Mentor’s vision extends beyond mushrooms — the same AI platform can be adapted for detecting other crop and plant diseases, aiming to become a universal plant health assistant.
