Mid-Game Chess

Mid-Game drops you straight into the middle of a real chess game and asks one question: can you play it better than the players who were there?

No opening theory to memorise. No twenty moves of shuffling before anything happens. Every game starts at a balanced moment in the middlegame, you watch the moves that led there in fast motion, and then it is your game.

HOW YOU WIN
You don't have to checkmate. The engine evaluates the starting position, and that is your neutral point. Swing the evaluation in your favour by the target amount, hold it for two of your moves, and you win. Blunders are punished, good play is rewarded, and games are decided in minutes.

PICK HOW MUCH YOU PLAY FOR
Each game length is named after a piece and sets its own target and clock:
• Pawn – swing +1, 1 minute
• Knight – swing +3, 3 minutes
• Rook – swing +5 and win material, 5 minutes
• Queen – swing +9 and win material, 10 minutes
• King – checkmate only, 10 minutes
• Classic – a normal game from the starting position

GAMES CHOSEN FOR YOUR LEVEL
Positions are picked for your rating. Club players get real games from players at their own level, in the openings people at that level actually reach: Londons, Italians, Scandinavians, Caro-Kanns. As you climb, famous games between elite players are mixed in, from the Immortal Game to Kasparov–Topalov 1999. At the top it is famous games only. Every game is declared by its opening before the board appears.

PLAY ONLINE OR AGAINST BOTS
Get matched with a player at your level who asked for the same game length, challenge anyone in the lobby, or add friends and play them directly. Prefer to practise alone? Bots at every strength play like humans of that rating, with realistic mistakes and time pressure, not like a crippled engine.

LEARN FROM EVERY MOVE
A coach explains your moves in plain language: what was good, what was missed, what the opponent's last move was threatening. After the game you get a full report on your opening, middlegame and endgame, what went right, what went wrong and what to work on next. Play a flawless game and earn the 100% seal.
